Built to be usedby everyone.

We build accessible websites for a living, so it would be strange not to hold our own to the same standard. Here is exactly where it stands.

This site aims to conform to WCAG 2.2 Level AA, the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act in practice and by Section 508 for federal procurement.

What we have done

  • Every page is checked with axe against WCAG 2.0 A/AA, 2.1 A/AA and 2.2 AA. The current result is zero automated violations across the site.
  • Semantic HTML: one h1 per page, headings in order, real landmarks.
  • A visible “skip to main content” link as the first focusable element.
  • Visible focus rings on every interactive element, never removed.
  • Text contrast meets 4.5:1, and large text 3:1, throughout.
  • Interactive targets are at least 24×24 CSS pixels, per WCAG 2.2.
  • Alt text on every image that carries meaning; decorative images are hidden.
  • All motion honours prefers-reduced-motion, and can also be switched off manually.
  • Forms have real labels, and errors are announced to assistive technology.
  • Nothing depends on colour alone to convey meaning.
  • The whole site is operable by keyboard, in a logical order.

The settings panel

The button in the bottom-right corner opens display and privacy settings: larger text, higher contrast, reduced motion, permanently underlined links, and an analytics opt-out.

It changes this site’s own styles. It is deliberately not an accessibility overlay. Overlays that claim to make a site compliant by injecting a script are widely opposed by disabled users and have been cited in litigation. We would not sell you one, so we do not run one.

Where we fall short

Automated testing catches perhaps a third of real accessibility problems. Being honest about the rest:

  • Blog posts written before this rebuild may contain images without alt text, or heading levels that skip. We are correcting these as we work through the archive.
  • Embedded video is hosted by YouTube. Captions depend on that platform, and not every clip is captioned yet.
  • We have not yet completed a full audit with screen reader users. Automated checks and manual keyboard testing are not a substitute for that.
  • Third-party links lead to sites whose accessibility we do not control.

Tell us when something does not work

If any part of this site blocks you, we want to know — it is a bug, and we will treat it as one.

Tell us the page, what you were trying to do and what happened. We aim to reply within two business days and to fix confirmed blocking issues within ten. If you need information from this site in another format, ask and we will send it.

Assessment

This statement reflects a self-assessment: automated testing with axe across every template, plus manual keyboard and zoom testing. It has not been audited by an independent third party.
